Welcome to the Margot community!

At Margot, we deeply believe that every human connection has the power to transform lives. By joining our community, you’re becoming part of something greater than just a platform—you’re helping multiply memorable moments by creating meaningful human connections.

These Terms of Service exist to protect this wonderful community we’re building together. They may sound formal, but they reflect our mutual commitment to creating a safe and caring environment for all families and providers who trust us.

Our role in your journey

Margot is your trusted ally in finding authentic connections. We’re a matchmaking platform that facilitates connections between families and providers—but we are not an employment agency or an employer. The relationships that begin on our platform grow directly between you, just the way we like it.

We facilitate the meeting, but the service agreements, working conditions, and financial arrangements are created directly between you—in the spirit of respect and transparency that every human relationship deserves.

Who can join our community

Our community warmly welcomes anyone aged 16 or older who wishes to take part in this human adventure. We know that 16- and 17-year-olds already possess the maturity and passion to make a real difference in the lives of families, which is why we open our doors to them.

For providers, we also require that you are legally allowed to work in Canada and reside within our service areas. These aren’t barriers—they are assurances we offer to families who trust us.

Honesty is the foundation of every authentic relationship. Providing false information about your age or qualifications breaks that fundamental trust and cannot be tolerated in our community.

Our subscriptions: an investment in your peace of mind

We’ve designed our subscriptions as an investment in your well-being and success.
Families can choose between a monthly, quarterly, or annual plan, with substantial savings on longer commitments.

Providers can select a monthly, quarterly, or annual plan—our annual plan includes a full criminal background check in the first year.

All subscriptions renew automatically to ensure uninterrupted access to your visibility or search features, but you always retain full control to modify or cancel at any time. Payments are processed securely via Stripe, and applicable taxes are added based on your jurisdiction.

Our satisfaction guarantee

If our service doesn’t meet your expectations after your trial period, we offer a satisfaction guarantee that reflects our commitment to your happiness.
Families have 14 days after their trial period ends to request a full refund.
Providers have 30 days after their trial period, recognizing that evaluating a professional platform can take a little more time.

To request a refund, simply contact us at info@margot.care.
We’ll handle your request with kindness and diligence. You may also cancel your subscription at any time without penalty after the guarantee period, although fees already billed for the current term are non-refundable.

Policy — Lifetime Entry Fee (Margot Verification Badge)

The $59 payment for the Margot Verification Badge is a one-time fee, charged only once in a provider’s lifetime.
This badge includes the following services:

  • identity verification

  • criminal background check

  • validation of the legal right to work

  • verification of diplomas or relevant skills

  • activation of the professional profile

  • integration into the Margot community

  • lifetime access to the “Verified Provider” status

This payment is never charged again, even if the provider temporarily pauses their account or changes regions.

This fee is non-refundable, as the verification is a service performed in your name and completed upon registration.

A safe environment for everyone

The safety of our community is at the heart of everything we do. We take any behaviour that could harm the well-being of our members extremely seriously. Violence in any form—physical, verbal, or psychological—has no place here.

Harassment, whether personal, professional, or sexual, is strictly prohibited. Any comment, gesture, image, or content of an inappropriate sexual nature will be dealt with severely. Our platform exists to foster professional and caring connections, and any deviation from that mission will result in sanctions.

We monitor messages exchanged through our secure messaging system—not to be intrusive, but to ensure that every interaction respects the dignity and safety of all members. Each user accesses this system through their subscription, and we reserve the right to review communications in the event of a safety concern or formal report.

Reporting inappropriate behaviour isn’t tattling—it’s protecting your community. If you witness or experience something concerning, please notify us immediately. Our team will act promptly and discreetly to protect everyone’s integrity.

Honesty as a foundation

False statements about qualifications, experience, identity, or any other aspect of your profile betray the trust that families and providers place in us. Every piece of information you share must be truthful and up to date. Transparency is essential to maintaining the quality and safety of our community.

Similarly, using our platform for commercial promotion of unrelated services or businesses is not permitted, unless through our dedicated Enterprise Subscription. Margot is a community dedicated to family care, and we must preserve that mission.

Verification: our commitment to your safety

Every provider joining Margot undergoes a comprehensive verification process at registration. We verify identity with official documents, conduct criminal background checks through accredited agencies, and validate declared skills and qualifications. These rigorous verifications are our promise to families that they can trust our community.

For providers with an annual plan, the criminal background check is included during the first year. For other plans, this verification remains mandatory and will be billed separately.

Providers must maintain honesty throughout their time with us. If any change occurs in their criminal record after registration, they are morally and contractually obligated to inform us immediately. Failure to do so constitutes a serious breach of these Terms and will result in immediate account suspension.

While we perform thorough checks at registration, our responsibility is limited to the information available at that time and the actions we take upon notification of changes. We cannot be held liable if a provider fails to disclose later developments in their record or situation.

Respectful use of messaging

Our secure messaging system is designed for authentic and professional communication between families and providers. It’s the space where first connections happen, where family needs are discussed, and where providers showcase their skills. It must never be used for inappropriate conversations, external solicitations, or topics unrelated to family care.

All communications must follow Margot’s core values of kindness and professionalism. Sharing personal details like phone numbers or addresses is at your discretion, but we recommend keeping communication on the platform until a trust-based relationship is established.

Use of Prohibited Language and Unauthorized Content

To maintain a safe, respectful environment aligned with Margot’s mission, it is strictly forbidden to use, publish, transmit, or display on the platform any word, expression, content, or message belonging to the following categories:

Private education, academic assistance, and all related derivatives, including terms referring to tutoring, private lessons, or any comparable service.
This restriction is required due to a legal non-competition obligation in effect until August 1, 2027.

Vulgarity, profanity, and swear words, including their orthographic variations.

Insults, derogatory remarks, harassment, or intimidation directed at anyone.

Violence in all its forms, including threats, assaults, crimes, or acts of mistreatment.

Sexually explicit content, including terms related to sexual acts, organs, or services.

Drugs, illicit substances, or related references.

Racism, discrimination, hate speech, or statements targeting protected groups.

References to illegal activities, including undeclared work, fraud, theft, or any form of bypassing the law.

Margot reserves the right to remove any non-compliant content and to suspend or terminate an account that does not respect these rules. By using the platform, the user acknowledges having reviewed this policy and agrees to comply with it.

Privacy and data protection

Respecting your privacy is fundamental to us. All personal information shared on Margot is protected in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms. We never share your personal information with third parties for commercial purposes.

Data we collect is used solely to improve your platform experience, ensure community safety, and facilitate connections. You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data by contacting us.

Legal, tax, and liability responsibilities

Our role as facilitator

Margot acts solely as a neutral facilitator. We are not the employer, agent, or legal representative of families or providers. Our mission is to build bridges between people, but the relationships that follow belong entirely to you.

Any agreement reached after a connection on our platform—employment, service contract, compensation, or working conditions—is solely the responsibility of the parties involved.

Families’ duty of diligence

While we verify providers during registration, families remain responsible for validating information before hiring. This may include checking additional references, conducting interviews, and ensuring compatibility with your family’s specific needs.
Our verifications are your first safety net, but your parental judgment remains irreplaceable.

Margot cannot be held responsible for any omission, misrepresentation, negligence, behaviour, or incident arising from a relationship between a family and a provider.

Providers’ duty of integrity

Families’ trust in you is sacred. You must always provide accurate information and immediately notify Margot of any change affecting your criminal record, work eligibility, or declared qualifications. Breaches of this duty will result in suspension or termination of your account without refund.

Tax and legal obligations

Both families and providers are solely responsible for complying with applicable tax and labour regulations (Revenu Québec, CRA, CNESST).
This includes issuing tax slips (T4/T4A), declaring income, maintaining required insurance, and adhering to provincial labour and safety laws.
Margot does not provide legal or tax advice and assumes no responsibility for these obligations.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by the Civil Code of Québec and Canadian law, Margot disclaims any liability for damages, losses, or injuries—direct or indirect—arising from use of the platform, services rendered by providers, or hiring decisions made by families.

Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your current subscription.

Nothing in these Terms restricts the consumer rights granted under Québec or Canadian law.

Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to our platform for any use that violates our values of respect, transparency, and care. This can occur immediately and without notice in serious cases involving safety concerns, violence, harassment, fraud, or criminal conduct.

For less serious breaches, we prioritize dialogue and warnings first. Repeated violations will lead to permanent account closure.
No refund is issued following termination for cause.

Evolving services

Margot is constantly evolving to better serve you. We reserve the right to modify our services, features, pricing, or these Terms to improve your experience.
We’ll provide at least 30 days’ notice for significant changes.
By continuing to use the platform after updates, you agree to the revised Terms.
If you disagree with substantial changes, you may cancel and receive a prorated refund for the unused portion.

Intellectual property

All content on the Margot platform—including text, images, logos, graphics, features, and software—is the property of Margot Family Support Inc. or its partners and is protected by Canadian copyright and intellectual property law.

You may use the platform for your personal, non-commercial purposes related to family care. Any reproduction, distribution, or modification without written consent is strictly prohibited.

Dispute resolution

If challenges arise during your use of the platform, we encourage open and respectful dialogue. Most misunderstandings can be resolved through communication.
Our team is available to mediate with empathy and fairness. Contact us at info@margot.care.

If a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, both parties agree that Québec courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction, and Québec and Canadian law will apply.

General provisions

If any clause of these Terms is deemed invalid or unenforceable, it will be interpreted to best reflect the original intent, while all other provisions remain in effect.

Our tolerance of a breach does not constitute a waiver of our rights.

Our ongoing commitment to you

These Terms reflect our deep commitment to building a community grounded in trust, respect, and authenticity. By accepting them, you join us in creating human connections that transform lives—one family, one provider at a time.

We know legal documents can feel impersonal, but behind each clause lies our sincere intention to protect what we are building together.
Margot is not just a platform—it’s a living community where every “rare pearl” finds a place to shine.
