Margot Family Support Inc. (“Margot,” “we,” “us,” “our”) operates as a connection platform between families and family support service providers.
We respect your privacy and are committed to handling your personal information with transparency, care, and in full compliance with Law 25 (Québec) and PIPEDA (Canada). 

This Policy explains how we collect, use, retain, share, and protect your personal information when you use our connection services.
It applies to all Margot users in Canada (families and providers), to our website, and to the forms we provide.

  1. Information We Collect

Depending on your interactions with our platform, we may collect: 

  • Identity and contact information: name, address, email, phone numbers, date of birth. 
  • Technical data: IP address, device type, browser, and site usage data. 
  • Billing and payment data: information transmitted to Stripe (no credit card details are stored or accessible by Margot). 

This information is necessary to operate the platform and ensure the quality of our matchmaking services. 

  1. Purposes and Legal Bases for Processing

We use your personal information to: 

  • Provide the requested services (account creation/management, communication, matching, billing, support).

  • Fulfil legal and tax obligations (retention of required documents).

Some providers may host or process data outside Québec and/or Canada (e.g., in the United States or the European Union). Before any transfer, Margot conducts a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) and implements appropriate contractual safeguards.

You may, at any time: 

  • Access your personal information and request a copy; 
  • Correct, update, or withdraw your consent (subject to legal obligations); 
  • Request deletion of your information when applicable.

Personal information is retained only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected: 

  • Account data: while the account remains active, then for a reasonable period for administrative or legal purposes. 
  • Payment data: as required by tax law. 
  • Technical and cookie data: according to their nature and purpose (see §8).

  • Providers aged 16–17: may consent on their own under Québec law. 
  • Data concerning minors is never sold and is deleted once the service relationship ends. 

Parents and guardians are encouraged to supervise their children’s use of the platform.
